LYDIA PRODUCES STUDIO PERFECT SOUND LIVE

Kaelin Darcy March 24, 2018

If you haven't yet listened to the band Lydia, I suggest you start today. I'll admit I was a bit late to the game, only listening to them for the first time a few weeks back after I saw them announce their tour with Moose Blood, but after I heard 'Hospital' from their 2008 Album Illuminate I was immediately hooked.

I had the pleasure of photographing them along with openers McCafferty and the headliners Moose Blood last night at The Orpheum in Tampa, Fl. and right from the start they sounded AMAZING. Although only being a supporting act this tour they still managed to pull in a huge chunk of fans that you could tell were there for them, singing along to every word without missing a beat.

Lydia, which is usually a 3-piece band (Leighton Antelman – lead vocals, Matt Keller – keyboard, and Justin Camacho – guitar) decided to branch out this tour bringing along some extra elements (Shawn Strader - bass guitar and Evan Chapman - drums) which really helped bring the studio sound to the stage. Exemplifying their indie style and producing a live sound that matched their album unlike any other band I've seen before.

With this being Moose Blood's tour I'd find it rude not to comment on the amazing job they did as well under their circumstances, with lead vocalist, Eddy Brewerton, announcing after their third song that he currently has a bad case of laryngitis. Despite this, what many would consider a 'tour canceling' issue, Eddy only sees as a small bump in the road, singing the majority of the songs and then turning the microphone to the crowd for help when a quick breather is needed. The rest of Moose Blood is comprised of Mark E. Osbourne – lead guitar, Kyle Todd – bass and the newest member who joined in 2017, Lee Munday – drums.
